Out And About

The Flower Pots sits in the beautiful and historic Hampshire village of Cheriton, nestled in the Itchen Valley, five miles from Winchester, the ancient cathedral capital of England.

Take a walk from The Pots

The Flower Pots Inn has one of the most beautiful local beer gardens in Hampshire. Enjoy your meal with a beer in our outdoor Inn area, while savouring the stunning view. Our old English Elm tree is very special to us. Then, have a wander, choosing one of the many countryside walks around the area.

Battle of Cheriton Walk

DISTANCE: 6 MILES

The Battle of Cheriton Walk is a dog friendly route that traces the footsteps of Waller’s Parliamentarian army who helped change the course of the English Civil War in 1644 by forcing Hopton’s Royalist troops to retreat.

Itchen Way

DISTANCE: 32 MILES

The Itchen Way is a picturesque footpath that follows the river from its source to its mouth, passing through the beautiful landscapes of Hampshire and numerous historic sites along the 32 miles from Cheriton to Southampton Water.  The walk along the river from The Pots to Titchborne and then Alresford is very easy to access from The Pots.

Wayfarer’s Walk

DISTANCE: 70 MILES

The 70 mile Wayfarer’s Walk passes straight through Cheriton as the route meanders from the high chalk downs at Inkpen to finish at Emsworth Harbour. The landscape varies from chalk turfs to mudflats and salt marshes and is divided into six easy sections, each providing a good day out.

South Downs Way

DISTANCE: 100 MILES

The South Downs Way is a 100-mile footpath and bridleway running along the South Downs from Winchester to Eastbourne in East Sussex. It is a stunning route and The Flower Pots Inn is regularly used by walkers as a staging post for beer and food. Please click Contact Us for availability.
